Eclectus Parrot
Learn about the stunning Eclectus parrot on tonight’s episode of Bring Down The Birds. The female is a red/blue beauty and the male is a handsome emerald green (with lots of other colours on him as well!). In Australia, you will have to travel to the Cape York Peninsula to find Eclectus parrots in the wild, high in the rainforest canopies of the Iron and McIllwraith Ranges. Good nesting hollows can be hard to find in the rainforest so female Eclectus parrots often don’t move very far from their nesting tree, even outside the breeding season.
