Episode 50 – Improvisation

Towards the end of last weeks show I spoke about the concert in Köln in 1975 and Keith Jarrett’s demonstration of using the constraints of an imperfect instrument and surrendering to the circumstances of the moment to create probably his most famous recorded work. This led naturally to the topic for the 50th episode of The Big Note – Improvisation. We dip our toes into the historical precedents of improvisation in Western music, riff a bit on Jazz and other genres, as well as play some funky Australian tunes and more.
