The Big Note #15 Pioneers of The New

From Edgard Varese “The Present Day Composer Refuses To Die!” to Bebe & Luois Barron, Daphne Oram, Suzanne Ciani, Ben Carey, Sunwrae and many more amazing artists, today we talk a little bit about composers pushing the boundaries of what is thought of as “Music” As Edgard Varese stated “to stubbornly conditioned ears, anything new in music has always been called noise”, and he posed the question “what is music but organized noises?”
He also apparently said “Contrary to general belief, an artist is never ahead of his [sic!] time but most people are far behind theirs.” There are many artists I haven’t covered here but hope to in future Big Note episodes, as always, Thanks for listening.
