8am – Ian Rice – Upper Gully Market/Foothills Community Care/Ferntree Gully Salvos
Hi folks, We hope you’re doin’ ok as we enter the silly season. The usual, well nearly usual, mix of impromptu themes of tunes to kick off proceedings this morning we were joined by presenter in training Jo for this week. Just after 8am Ian and Frank from the Gully Market popped into the to chat about some recent donations from funds raised at the weekly market that they’d made to local community groups. Foothills Community Care has been operating in the area for opver 20 years serving up weekly community meals on Mondays (Upwey) and Wednesdays (Ferntree Gully) and putting on a full Christmas lunch every year. Steve Barrington joined us on the phone to talk about their support programs and how the $1500 donation from the Gully Market could purchase most of the food for their Christmas lunch. The Gully Market also donated $1500 to the Ferntree Gully Salvos with those funds helping to put together over 200 food hampers for local families.
